Former Vice President of Product from Klara Joins Protenus Team

James Schaffer joins as Vice President of Product as Protenus continues to grow into the New Year
Baltimore, MD — Protenus, the healthcare compliance analytics platform that protects patient data for the nation’s leading health systems, announced today the addition of James Schaffer as the Vice President of Product. Prior to joining Protenus, James spent five years in Product Management at both Klara and Cota Healthcare. Recognizably at Cota Healthcare, he was able to successfully lead the company to a $40M C-round fundraise and a revenue increase of 2.5X. James has a focus on user-centered design, executive leadership and team building, as well as, market strategy focused on scaling fast-growing organizations.
Protenus was named the 2019 KLAS Category Leader in Patient Privacy Monitoring and a “Cool Vendor” in Healthcare Artificial Intelligence by Gartner, Inc. Protenus received the Healthcare Innovation Vendor Award in Data Security from Healthcare Innovation and was named one of the 2019 Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work in Healthcare and one of the 2019 Best Places to Work by Baltimore Business Journal.
James comes to us with a strong background in both product management and design, further bolstered by his recent experience managing SaaS products in healthcare - very much an emerging space," stated Chris Jeschke, Protenus Chief Technology Officer. While serving as the Vice President of Product at Klara, James was responsible for developing long term product vision while also ensuring sprint-to-sprint execution. For the last eight months, James ran product implementation where he took onboarding success from ~75% to consistently over 95%. Additionally, James built a complete product team made up of designers, researchers, and product managers in under 90 days, with half of the team based in Berlin and the other half in New York City.
James is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amhert where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Journalism.
